At FatCat Loans Canada, your privacy and safety are our top priorities.
We want to help protect you from fraudsters who try to take advantage of people looking for loans. This page explains how loan scams work and what you can do to stay safe.
Some fraudsters pretend to represent real lenders by copying their logos, website style, or even office addresses. They contact victims by phone, email, or text claiming a loan is “approved,” but ask for upfront fees or “taxes” before releasing funds.
They may also ask you to send money using untraceable payment methods — such as cryptocurrency (Bitcoin), e-transfer, or prepaid cards. Once the money is sent, it’s nearly impossible to recover.
These scammers are not associated with FatCat Loans Canada or any of our lending partners. FatCat Loans Canada will never ask for upfront fees or application payments of any kind. Any message or email requesting payment before receiving a loan is fraudulent.
If someone contacts you claiming to represent FatCat Loans Canada or another lender, and you’re unsure, stop all communication and contact us immediately. You can report suspicious messages or requests to our team at contact@fatcatloans.ca.
You can also report loan scams to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre or your local police department. Taking quick action helps protect both you and others from becoming victims.
